Last new homes handed over at St Peters View, Hixon

Today we handed over the last two new homes at St Peters View in Hixon, Staffordshire to Midland Heart.
This development has provided 30 new affordable homes, with 24 having been let on an affordable rent basis and 6 have been sold via shared ownership.
It’s been an interesting and challenging project due to the steep sloping topography requiring major earthworks to reprofile the land and we started on site in Feb 2020 less than a month before the Covid pandemic and lockdown hit. But we managed to keep building throughout the lockdown with only minor impact on our programme.
As a result of the lockdown every monthly site meeting for this project has been conducted via Teams, and many of the building control and warranty inspections were conducted remotely using Teams or WhatsApp video calling. Without modern technology and some creative thinking as to how to make use of it we would have really struggled to keep the project going.
We’re really pleased with how the finished development looks, with a careful choice of brick, roof tiles and small architectural details that compliment the rural / village location. These new homes really are in a lovely position with views across the neighbouring fields and only a short walk from the village centre and local amenities.
Just the final road surfacing to complete now and that’s a wrap on another project!
