Work starts on 81 New Homes in Overdale, Telford

This week we’ve started work on our latest project, building 81 new homes under contract for Green Square Accord Housing Association.

This is a very technically challenging site that has been in planning for many years, largely due to the site being a backfilled former opencast coalmine. We’ve spent nearly 2 years working on it already, a lot of that time at risk, with negotiations between the landowner, the housing association, completing the Reserved Matters planning, civil engineering design work and tendering the various civil engineering solutions.

Construction will involve significant earthworks to reprofile the steep sloping nature of the site, moving around 40,000 m3 of surplus earth off site, and pretty much every type of pilled foundation there is. We’ve also got the protection of an embankment down to the M54 and satisfying Highways England to contend with.

This will also be our first venture into building using Timber Frame construction.
